MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN CRISIS-TORN SYRIA

In this episode, Embrace CEO Tim Livesey speaks to S.L., the Director of the Diakonia Department and Ecumenical Relief Service at the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC). In this eye-opening conversation, Tim and S.L. discuss the multiple crises that have impacted the people of Syria - and how the church in Syria is responding to the challenges.

Born and raised in Damascus, S.L. shares how his faith has shaped the life choices he has made and the work he now does. He tells Tim about the difficult decision to move his children out of Syria to keep them safe from the fighting, and what it is like raising a family in a different cultural context.

S.L. also speaks about the tragic earthquake which struck in February 2023, and how local churches have mobilised to support people who have lost so much.

Listen in to learn more about a country that we hear very little about on the news. S.L.’s faith and passion for serving will challenge you to reflect on how you respond to the suffering of others.
